RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL
Staff recommends Council accept the Fire Station 2 Remodel - Phase 2 Project as complete and adopt a resolution to authorize the Public Works Director to execute the attached Notice of Completion.
| BACKGROUND
In 2019 staff accepted bids to update the 34 year old Fire Station 2 at 1398 Junction Blvd. The bids exceeded the available budget for that fiscal year, so staff awarded the contract to the low bidder, Bullard, Inc., and broke the project into two phases in order to spread the cost across two fiscal years. The Phase 1 Project was completed in December of 2019, and on January 5, 2021, the Phase 2 Project was finished.
The previous Phase 1 Project included renovating the firefighters' restrooms and locker area.
The current Phase 2 Project renovation included the:
- Reception area;
- Captains restroom;
- Exercise room; and
- Hallways
Staff has inspected the work and found it complete.
| FISCAL IMPACT
The budget for this Phase 2 Project was $130,000 and was funded from the FY2020-21 Fire Department - Renovation and Restoration Project in the Facility Rehabilitation Fund. The Phase 2 final cost was $94,500, or $35,500 under budget.
